Aspiring young filmmakers will have the chance to shine in the 24/7 Youth Film Festival being held from Mosman to Mona Vale in the next few weeks.
This year’s festival is presented by Mosman, Manly, Warringah and Pittwater Councils.
Mosman Mayor, Councillor Denise Wilton said the film competition presents a unique experience for young people to express their ideas and explore their culture through the art of film.
“The 24/7 Youth Film Festival Competition is open to young people aged 12 – 24 years and gives them the enormous challenge to complete a seven minute film, or less, in just 24 hours, “ Cr Wilton said.
“The finalists will then be screened in cinemas and judged by industry professionals.
“In 2005 the Film Festival won a Local Government Cultural Award for leadership in cultural programs and projects. Now in its fourth year, it is gaining even more momentum.
“This year’s Ambassador for the film festival is soap star Josh Quong-Tart, who has tutored a number of screen acting workshops for the 24/7 festival.
“At the recent launch, competing filmmakers have been given last minute tips for fast and furious filmmaking.
“A number of top secret items, locations and concepts that must be included in film entries, will be released to the competitors just before the commencement of the 24 hour countdown.
“We are looking forward to the Mosman screening, which is an exciting contribution to the Mosman Festival celebrations,” Cr Wilton said.
Screenings open to the public. Entry token $2.
